Friday Night without a Baby

Its 8:02 in the morning and I couldnt sleep.
Why?
Because I miss Ellie SO DARN MUCH! She is at her grandparents house and I am supposed to be sleeping late. But nooooooooo... My emotional, mamma bear self had to toss and turn all night because I missed looking at the monitor and seeing her little balled-up fists laying next to her head.
The only thing that made last night easier was this:
Oh yes people. I saw it. I even dragged my over-worked, over-tired hubs out to see it. And you know what? It was awesome.

And I'm sorry to say that I have now switched from Team Edward to Team Jacob. I mean...look at this:

And he looks even better in the rain!

After the movie, (and after Josh convinced me that we didnt need to drive back to his parents house so I could give Ellie another goodnight kiss) we went to Swanky's Taco Shop for cheeps and sahlsa.

We ended the night with an early bedtime and I fell asleep thinking about none other than my beautiful chunk of a daughter. I cant wait to see her today!

3 Months Old!

Ellie you are 3 months old today!

What are you up to?

  • You weigh about 14 lbs now.
  • You wear a size 1-2 diaper.
  • You wear 3 month clothes but are quickly getting too long for them!
  • You have discovered your hands and spend most of your time trying to shove both fists in your mouth.
  • You are so funny because you just stare at your hands and watch them open and close.
  • You can hold things like a rattle if we grasp your fingers around them.
  • You only wake up once during the night to eat.
  • You take several catnaps through the day, but only sleep good if you are in someone's arms.
  • When Daddy is home you stare and smile at him. You wont take your eyes off him!
  • You are a good baby. You only cry when you are hungry or if you need to pass gass.

Your Daddy and I love you more every day. We thank God all the time that in His perfect creation He made you without any health problems or setbacks. When I am rocking you and feeding you in the middle of the night I dont want to put you back to bed. I am starting to realize that it wont be like this forever, and someday you wont want to be held by me anymore. I'm cherishing every minute that we get to cuddle and you smile up at me. I love you so much and you are my best little friend. I can tell you all my secrets and you just listen and will never tell anyone! : )

To celebrate your 3 month birthday you are going to spend the night with Gigi and Gramps tonight. Mommy and Daddy are going out to celebrate on our own!

Morning Routine

Every morning I wake up somewhere between 6-8am to hear Ellie sucking on her fingers in her crib and grunting. I go get her and she usually still has her eyes closed. It takes her a minute to open them and realize where she is, but when she does she gives me the biggest smile! Its like she is saying, "Oh hi mom! I remember you from yesterday!"

I bring her into the living room and she lays on the couch staring at the fan and smiling. This is probably my favorite time of the day. She is so happy! We spend most of the morning playing until I get on the computer and she falls asleep for a while.

That is when I make my breakfast and try to scarf it down before she wakes up.

That being said...

I consider myself a morning person. I have always been that annoying one that can just jump out of bed at the first sound of the alarm clock, or sometimes even before! I usually am alert and happy in the a.m. But lately I have been like a zombie!

Example: Making oatmeal

Attempt 1
Misread box and put in half as much water and twice as much oats, oops! Must start over.

Attempt 2
Bring water to boil, put in correct amount of oats, forget to turn water to simmer. Look over in 11 minutes and realize there is no more water, just big chunky oats. Oops!

Attempt 3
Put water on stove and turn to high. Look over 15 minutes and notice water isnt boiling. Walk over to stove and see that I have turned on the wrong eye. Geez!

**Oh no I just realized I forgot to set the timer!

FAQ

Hello Friends,
I saw this questionairre (sp?) on someone else's blog and I thought it would be fun to do. Plus-I love these things because they make me realize things about myself I never knew before.
If you are brave you can read all the way through...

Here goes!

1. What is your favorite thing to snack on while your blogging?
Coffee. With peppermint mocha creamer and a dash of splenda. AFTER I pump, obvi.

2. What is one thing you wouldn't want to live without?
Easy. Chapstick.

3. Beach, Mountains, or Farm? Where would you live if you had a choice?
A farm in the mountains of Honduras, which is on the beach. Ha!

4. What's your least favorite chore/household duty?
Cleaning up dishes in the sink. Why is it that the food I just ate of that plate becomes completely disgusting after a couple drops of water hit it?

5. Who do people say you remind them of?
People say I look like Lisa Marie/Priscilla Presley. And also Julieann Moore...but I dont see it.

6. Prefer parties and socializing or staying home with the fam?
I like to go out to parties and then leave early to go home and spend time with my lil' fam.

7. What's your all time favorite movie?
Top Gun. I love the planes!

8. Do you sleep in your make-up or remove it like a good little girl every night?
Not only do I sleep in my makeup, but sometimes (most times) I dont even wash it off the next morning! I just reapply. If I'm feeling spiffy I use one of Ellie's baby wipes to wipe it all off and start over. Dont judge! : )

9. Do you have a hidden talent or a deep desire to learn something that you've never had a chance to learn? What is it?
I have 2 hidden talents. I can make stained glass and I also can do calligraphy.

10. What's one strange thing you're really good at?
I'm great at impressions.

11. What first attracted you to your spouse?
He was hilarious.

12. What is something you love to smell?
Gasoline.

13. Tell something about you that you know irritates people.
I am really really bad at returning calls. Once I see I have a missed call it goes straight out of my brain and I never think of it again. I'm sorry everyone!

14. When you have extra money, what's the first thing you think to do with it?
Go shopping. I like to see how much I can buy with a small amount.

15. Are you a silent laugher or a loud laugher? What makes you laugh the hardest?
Out loud! I laugh the hardest when I see people trip. I cant help it! That is one of the only times that people just have NO dignity left. But dont worry, I trip a lot and laugh at myself too.

16. Where is your favorite place to shop?
Hmmm...Kroger? I dont get to shop much, but when I do I go to Target or Ross.

17. What's one thing you'd do more often if you had more time?
Sleep. Or exercise. Hey, wouldnt it be cool if we could exercise while asleep?

18. Are you a big spender or frugal?
Frugal McDougal

19. Who is your favorite character of all time?
Ooooooo I dont know. This one is hard.

20. Would you want to be famous?
Definitely not. But I wouldnt mind being "infamous". The infamous Katie Jones has a nice ring to it.

What are some or all of your answers?

P.S. Josh and I need all of your prayers right now, as we are trying to make some huge decisions for our family. Please pray that the Lord with guide us and show us which way to go.

Oh How I Love Thee

(Photos by DF Jones Photography)

Felt slightly sentimental all day today. I think I am PPMSing. (Pre-PMSing, since I'm nursing and obvi not PMSing for real).

Anywho......

Just wanted to say that I love Ellie so much that it hurts. I could not possibly love her more. She is the most perfect little thing and I love how much she needs me.

Aww.....gosh.

Friday the 13th

Proof that I already put up our Christmas tree:
It is actually decorated at this point, but I'm not done with it yet so I dont want to show you! And....I definitely cropped this picture so that it optimized my body shape and hid the arm fat. Ha! Take that!
Our big girl sat in her high chair for the first time today! Josh and I were eating lunch and had no place to put her so we decided to try it out. Thank goodness it reclines so she can sit up without too much head control. I think she liked it!

Tonight we cooked one of my fall favorites: Baked potatoes topped with Chili! I turned around in the kitchen to see this tiny girl in her big chair!

Daddy kisses.

P.S. I just emailed customer service at Nestle Good Start Formula Company to complain that when I opened the can for the first time, the scoop inside was still attached to some giant round plastic frame thingy. Aaaaaaannnddd right after I hit "send" I read the part on the can where it says "Open can. Remove scoop from plastic frame." NICE.
